| Description: | Jenine Beekhuyzen is PhD student in the School of Information and Communication Technology at Griffith University. My PhD topic is: Digital Rights Management and the Online Music Experience. Jenine is the co-editor of 'Tech Girls are Chic, not Geek' - the new book which shows girls that working with techology can be fun, exciting and challenging. Former roles: - Invited scholar teaching a short course on "Gender issues in IT education and work" in Feb 2007 (Hanover, Germany) -Chair of the Girls and ICT Qld State Reference Group -Moderator and editor of AustList - List detailing current activities about Australian Girls in ICT -President of the Griffith University Alumni Association: School of ICT Chapter -Program Chair of the annual QualIT – Qualitative Research in IT conference held each November. Jenine's many research projects include the WinIT (Women in IT) longitudinal study and a Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) project on Smart Internet Technology. Jenine’s recent projects for the Smart Internet Technology include an investigation of Australia’s online banking trends and barriers, the policy issues of digital rights management (DRM), and the development of mobile computing to improve patient care within the Australian health sector. Jenine’s research also explores the issues facing particular disadvantaged groups: women, people with disabilities, young/elderly people, indigenous people, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). She serves a reviewer for a number information systems academic journals and conferences. |
